The headquarters of the Virginia State Federation of C.W.C. (Colored Women’s Clubs) sits in the heart of Hampton, in the middle of the historic Pasture Point neighborhood at 123 East Pembroke Avenue. Like much of Hampton, this house is steeped in important history that has largely been untold.

I would like to share some personal memories of Billie Millner, who died on December 1st at the age of 82. Billie was a wonder to behold, and his life was a gift to the entire Peninsula. He was funny, smart, kind and – most of all – original. There wasn’t anybody else like him, and there never will be again.

Mark Warner came to Fort Monroe on Friday, November 18 to tour the fort, talk about the National Park Service and explore the possibility a Science, Technology, Engineering and Applied Mathematics (STEAM) academy at the fort. The Senator was accompanied by an entourage of reporters, and he toured the fort on foot.
